The conversion brouhaha

The conversion issue is already much written and I had been trying to ignore conversion row at Parliament for few days but the logjam refused to budge coercing me to think of the issue in detail. Now being rational may be tough here as I’m proud of being a Hindu and the plight of a Hindu looks worse in a secular nation than a self-confessed Islamic nation.
That said first point that I would raise is that I strongly feel that ‘ghar waapasi’ will only flare the social imbalance further with few groups getting to publicize themselves enough to garner political and monetary support from the opportunists. Dera Sachcha Sauda though no Hindu camp is one such group who has made itself politically relevant and runs a separate government below the nose of state and central government who bow to it to get votes of its followers. Pakistan also has a similar example of TTP flourishing under the guardianship of PTI Chief Mr. Imran Khan who could differentiate among ‘Good evil’ and ‘Bad evil’ that’s good and bad taliban before Peshwar attack. So before we get into the loop of good and bad saffron outfits we need to understand that neither we have values to wipe off other religions from the face of earth nor we can become an anarchist of a lot under Constitution. However making Natguram Godse a national icon is certainly not the way, he didn’t kill Mahatma Gandhi for agreeing to partition, he killed him to avenge the death of his dear ones. Gandhi had no option to agree to Pakistan otherwise Jinnah’s mistakes would have made India a terrorist state too. We have enough Maoists for our headache to cope with Taliban as well, so Godse wasn’t a martyr that the illiterate people are trying to make him and meanwhile defaming the idea of being a Hindu.
The conversion issue is already much written after, the secularism that is ingrained in even the veggies and meat we eat makes it tough for us not to lament the attack on any particular religion. I think that might be one of the reasons of India not being able to produce a real fast bowler as even the Muslim debutants at this side of border are brought up on secular meat which Isn’t nutritious enough and the likes of Ishant Sharma can only do max 138 with the ‘ghaas-phoos’ they eat. Jokes apart what makes us such an ignorant lot when Hindus are converted to other religions, frankly I don’t even mind who converts to which religion as it’s their discretion how they wish to lead their life further. It may be due to lure of money, food or shelter but at least that improves the living condition of a human (at least by his/her own confession if not in reality). So that’s what these Hindu outfits are trying, lure the poor by promising the benefits. Isn’t it similar to what missionaries and others had been doing? Then why to make it such a big issue, just because hindus are majority in this secular country where showing a big heart is a fashion statement. Yes out Constitution gives the right to all the religions to follow their faith in their own way but it never said one can’t change their faith as per their comfort and belief. Right? Then why to force your secular choices on people?
Third and last the parliamentary logjam, Mr. Sitaram Yechuri who was protester in chief at Rajya Sabha with his deputies in Congress, TMC and other fringe parties have not let the Parliament discuss even one bill for PM’s statement on conversion row. I wonder how would PM’s statement change anything when his statement to let the Parliament run smoothly for nation’s interest is not being held to its esteem by his own colleagues. Everyone is looking for their own benefits, TMC wants to dodge the Sharada scam bullet by diverging the attention and others have to ensure that government couldn’t work to take credits in any state elections. But no one thinks of the people who elected them to get fat pay package, a lutyens Delhi villa and subsidized five star food at the Parliament canteen. GST bill if passed gets a tax relief to these people where they don’t have to pay taxes on taxes. Land acquisition bill amendment and Insurance bill are key to generation of more jobs in manufacturing and an under-penetrated Insurance sector in our country. But the Parliament is not working to clarify conversion row as if conversion is filling any stomach or contributing to national GDP. For almighty’s sake please do what you were sent their to do and not make a mess of the sacrosanct temple of democracy. Or perhaps it’s the time that public asks for the pay cut for the MPs not doing any productive work and same be displayed on a public website.

Let’s get some sanity guys, enough of brouhaha.
